Our story
Dedicated to simplifying patent work.
Since the first patent law was enacted in Venice in 1474, most patent-related activities—from patent searching, patent filing, maintenance, and transaction, to litigation—have failed due to poor data quality or decisions not based on data analytics.
More often than not, patent professionals are limited by an abundance of grunt work such as collecting and organizing patent data by searching through piles of file wrappers or conducting patent analysis with endless spreadsheets.
InQuartik—formed by data scientists, passionate programmers, and patent experts—strives to change the patent work of the past. We are determined to provide actionable patent solutions to help get rid of the old habits of endless and tedious patent searching and processing—and deliver instant, insightful, and integrated patent analytics services to our clients.

In memory of Y.P. Jou
InQuartik’s founder and helmsman
Y.P. Jou — recognized as a 2019 leading IP strategist by the IAM Strategy 300 Global Leaders, the 15th IAM Top Market Maker of 2018, and the former general counsel of the Hon Hai group — was an innovator, thinker, and pioneer of the IP world.
When he founded InQuartik back in 2014, he dreamed of transforming the IP world for the better. Under his leadership, InQuartik strived to simplify patent work for patent professionals and empowered worldwide users with reliable solutions — all with his complete dedication and endless support.
It is with deep regret that we lost this man in August 2021. He established InQuartik from scratch, but Y.P. Jou was not only the founder of InQuartik he was also a friend, a visionary leader, and a dreamer who will go on to inspire the next generation.
His legacy will be upheld by the InQuartik team, as always.

Chief Executive Officer
Li-Lung Hsu (Leon) joined InQuartik in 2014 and is currently the Chief Executive Officer. Leon is responsible for coordinating data scientists, developers, and designers and bringing InQuartik's vision to SaaS solutions to deliver actionable insights and an excellent user experience to Patentcloud's users.
In 2010, before joining InQuartik, Leon was an intellectual property consultant specializing in patent landscape, freedom-to-operate, portfolio development, and standard-essential patents (SEPs) at WISPRO Technology Consulting Corporation—where he led a team of patent analysts and served enterprises and startups in SaaS, cloud computing, IoT, and information communication industries.
Leon holds a master's degree in intellectual property management from the National Chengchi University and a bachelor's degree in information management from the National Taiwan University.
Thanks to his extensive software and intellectual property background, Leon has been developing his knowledge, skills, and experience in intellectual property and software for over ten years.

Director of the Business Development Division
Leo Tien is InQuartik's Business Development Director. He strives to create valuable services that leverage Patentcloud's patent data and intelligence with a global network of partners.
Leo specializes in developing business strategies that maximize win-win outcomes. Leo is capable of proposing compelling plans with feasible tactics based on the nature and individual needs of a partner. As a collaboration enabler, he makes sure that InQuartik is the best complementary teammate to the partner.
Before joining InQuartik, Leo acquired over twelve years of work experience in marketing and business development for various industries, including eCommerce, high technology, express transportation, and consumer electronics.
Leo holds two master's degrees— an MBA from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, and a Masters of Integrated Marketing Communications from the Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University. Leo received his undergraduate degree from the Power Mechanical Engineering Department of National Tsing-Hua University.
